News 31st May 2007 - Iceman Trophy News Update
This year's NW200 Iceman Trophy regretfully wasn't presented for a number of reasons. Funding for the prizemoney being the main issue. I am pleased to say that the NW200 sponsor for 2008 has been approached and has agreed, in principal, to provide £500.00 of the prizemoney for next years winner. This years TT Iceman Trophy will be presented to the winner after the senior race on Friday 8th June.
The prizemoney for this years Trophy has been kindly donated by:
www.visitisleofman.com - arranged by courtesy of Paul Phillips - with kind contributions from:
Chas Corris
Gary McKay Electrics
Kev Collier of Flying Sparks and End2End
I am personally grateful for these donations and thank these individuals sincerely for keeping Joakim Karlsson's name well and truly alive in the TT Trophy created in his memory and one which I truly believe to be a real International award in recognition of performance, in addition to the other two Iceman Trophies - UGP and NW200.
This year sees replica's being awarded for the first time in the short Iceman Trophy history. I have ordered replicas from Ironside Trophies, Lisburn (makers of the Iceman Trophies) for the previous trophy winners and will be forwarding them once they are complete to:
Cameron Donald - UGP 2005
Benny Jerzenbeck - NW200 2006
Jeremy Toye - TT 2006
Patrik van Gils - UGP 2006
Thanks also goes to Brian Farrell of Tuttiwebs - web designers of the highest quality - for the continued support and maintenance of the Iceman website www.icemantrophy.com
I will close by wishing all competitors a safe and successful weeks racing at this years centenary IOM TT Races
